Neighbourhood Watch
Neighbourhood Watch is one of the biggest and most successful crime prevention schemes ever. This is because its simple ideas, standards and values are shared by many people around the country."Getting together with your neighbours to reduce local crime and disorder in a bid to make your neighbourhood a better and safe place to live, work and play"
The aims of Neighbourhood Watch schemes are: -
- To reduce opportunities for crime and anti-social behaviour to occur in your neighbourhood by deterring would be burglars and vandals.
- To build a community spirit so that all residents can contribute towards the protection of their property through co-operation and communication
There are about 130,000 Neighbourhood Watch Schemes in place in the UK, covering over 9 million households. Both the Police and the Home Office support neighbourhood Watch.
Ripple Parish has an active Neighbourhood Watch. Our Link Co-ordinator is John Leask who can be contacted on 01684 594938 or by e-mail to johnleask@which.net
Through John Leask, local co-ordinators run Neighbourhood Watch groups in many areas of the Parish. Contact John Leask to find out who is your local co-ordinator, or if you would like to volunteer to help in the Neighbourhood Watch program.
John Leask also supports specially focused groups such as Farm Watch and Horse Watch - contact him for further details. (see listing in Local Services Directory - Safety)
